Meeting recording isn't working: troubleshooting
Common reasons a meeting wasn't recorded, the other side isn't audible, the app is signed into the wrong account, or it auto-launches unexpectedly.
Here are the most common reasons a meeting recording doesn't go as expected.
The meeting wasn't recorded
Check three things: the app is running (look for the tray/menu-bar icon), you're signed in with the same account as the website, and your call service is on the auto-detect list. If it isn't, or auto-start didn't fire, start recording manually with the Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R hotkey before the call begins.
I can't hear the other participant in the transcript
On macOS, capturing the meeting's system audio (the other participants' voices) requires the "Screen Recording" permission — without it, the app only hears your microphone. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, enable QuillAI, and restart the app.
The app is signed into the wrong account
Sign out of the app and sign back in with the same method you use on the web — otherwise desktop recordings land in a different workspace and won't show up in your interface.
The app launches itself when I turn on my computer
Launch at login is on by default so you don't miss a meeting. Turn it off in the app's settings — "General" → "Launch at login".
Permissions are granted but recording still doesn't start
Fully quit and reopen the app — some macOS permission changes only take effect after a restart. If that doesn't help, check that no other app is holding the microphone.
The recording exists but it's in the wrong project, or in no project
Desktop recordings land in the workspace's "Inbox" first, just like any other recording. Open it and choose "Move to project" — moving it automatically kicks off AI analysis.
Do I need internet during the meeting?
Yes — sending audio off for processing requires an internet connection. If the connection drops, part of the recording may be lost; the app tries to finish uploading as soon as the connection comes back.
Can I record several meetings back to back?
Yes — as soon as one meeting ends and the app spots a new one starting, recording restarts automatically (or via the hotkey), with no limit on how many meetings you record in a day.
